On October 27th, 2008, the 8th meeting of AtoN Management Committee of China Navigation Association was hold in Haikou, China. Delegates from 48 national AtoN management committees attended the meeting in which Capt. Liu Gongchen, Executive Director-General of China MSA and deputy Executive Chairman of China Navigation Association, delivered an important speech.

The meeting debriefed the report on the working of 2003-2008 by Lin Yunai, the director of 7th committee, and approved the financial report of 7th committee together with the "Regulation of the AtoN Management Committee of China Navigation Association" (revised draft). The commissioners of the 8th committee were elected, and Wang Jinfu from China MSA was elected the director of the new committee.

Additionally, delegates discussed the development of new hydrographic technology and exchanged professional experience such as AIS application, AtoN administration system, the management and social maintenance of overseas aids to navigation, the development of international hydrographic technology and so on.
