On 27th May 2008, the buoy installation ceremony for the upcoming Olympic Sailing Competition was held by Tianjin MSA in Qingdao. Delegates from Chinese Olympic Sailing Committee and China MSA attended the ceremony; meanwhile, major local media such as Qingdao Television Station, Qingdao Daily, Qingdao Evening Paper and China Water Transport also report the ceremony.

The buoy installation will strictly follow the instructions of the Chinese Olympic Sailing Committee. In order to remind the nearby shipping not to enter the competition area, a total number of 22 buoys with "Beijing 2008" body mark will be deployed in the area of Qingdao Fushan Bay and Mai Isle. The installation of the buoys will not only mark the alert boundary of the Competition Area and provide reliable visual markers, but also enhanced the navigational aids of the main sea-route of Qingdao port. With the synchro LED optical devices, solar power and remote control function, these alert buoys will serve the 2008 Olympic Sailing Competition as environmentally friendly AtoNs.

As one of its primary duty for the upcoming Olympic Competition, Tianjin MSA has spent 6 million yuan (about 870,000 USD) in the installation project.
