The Working Meeting on AtoN & Hydrography 2008 was held in Shanghai from March 16th to 17th. During the meeting, delegates from Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangdong and Hainan MSA introduced their work on AtoN and hydrography in 2006 -2007, as well as the working plan in 2008 respectively.
Mr. Han wWei, Director Chief of the AtoN & Hydrography Ddivision of China MSA delivered athe work report, which summarized the work performance in the plast two years. , andHe also pointed out the challenges and problems that we the AtoN & Hydrography community has towill face in the future. , These problems includincluding that e: laws and regulations & criterion system for AtoN and hydrographic management needs to be strengthened, administrative level needs to be promoted, structure proportion and quality of staff needs to be optimized, the personnel, resources sharing e and popularization the technicaland application of technical achievements need to be strengthened, and the completion rate of special projects needs to be increased.

Regarding the working plan of forthe AtoN & Hydrography community in 2008, Mr. Han Wwei stressed on the following issues, including the such as to strengthening of the basic management of AtoN & Hydrographyic management, ; the reconstruction of AtoN to improve the efficiency of AtoN in the important water areas, ; the construction of AtoN & Hydrography hydrographic facilities in the areas that are lack of navigational aids,; the popularization and application of maritime AIS, and the introduction and application integration of the HPD system, the involvement in international affairs, etc.

Captain Liu Gongchen, Exective Director-General of China MSA also delivered important aninstructions, important speech during the conference which affirmed the achievement of the community in the last two years and highlightings the sense of responsibility and idea of service, of China MSA in the era of technical innovation. He also emphasizeding the importance of promoting technical innovation and pushing forward the cultivation of high-level staff, as well as AtoN & Hydrography professionals and to further improved improving the standardized management to ensure the healthy development of AtoN and hydrographic industry.administrative standard of the community.
