The AtoN and Hydrography Working Meeting on responding to ¡°IMO Voluntary Member States Audit Scheme (VIMSAS) ¡± was held in Tianjin on June 23rd, 2006. The meeting, chaired by Mr. Jin Shengli, Deputy Director of AtoN and Hydrography Division of China MSA, was attended by 13 delegates from Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangdong and Hainan MSA.
As one of the Category A Council Members, China has decided to submit application for audit from VIMSAS this year. According to the normal procedure, China is expected to be audited in 2007.
In order to receive the audit in 2007, China MSA, based on the international maritime management trends and domestic maritime status, put forward the strategy of ¡°management standardization year¡±. As an important part of maritime system, proactive measures will be adopted to push forward the standard management of AtoN in each sea area.
VIMSAS also provides an opportunity for China MSA to further improve its both internal and industry management on AtoN and Hydrography by employing quality management system.
Under this circumstance, the working meeting on responding to VIMSAS was held. At the meeting, the delegates from above regional MSAs respectively reported the current status on constructing AtoN and Hydrography quality management system and the working plan next step. The working meeting studied and thoroughly discussed the problems occurred during the construction of AtoN and Hydrography quality management system, set forward solution, further clarified the objective and meaning of the work, and arranged work at the next stage.
The meeting intensified people¡¯s understanding on the objective, importance and imminence of the construction of AtoN and Hydrography quality management system, which will be helpful for completion of the construction work by the end of this year.
