The Maritime Navigation Safety, AtoN & Hydrography Working Meeting was grandly opened on March 21st, 2006 in Nanjing. The meeting was attended by nearly one hundred delegates from China MSA, regional MSAs and related units.

    As 2006 is the first year of the leventh Five-Year?Plan, at the meeting, China MSA reviewed and summarized the navigation safety, AtoN and hydrographic work during the enth Five-Year?(2000-2005), and set forth development strategies for the work in 2006 and succeeding years of the leventh Five-Year? Lectures were given on six topics including "Strategic objectives and international perspective," "Harmonious environment and public products", "Navigation safety and management regularization", "Advanced tools and supporting systems," and "Management innovation and harmonious development", and a total of 43 papers were distributed on the meeting.

    Mr. Han Wei, Director of AtoN and Hydrography Division of China MSA expounded the achievement on the research of China maritime AtoN and hydrographic strategy, and put forward the strategic objective of AtoN and hydrographic development, which is to construct China Marine Integrated Navigation Guarantee System.

    Mr. Hu Xirun, Deputy Director of Navigation Safety Division of China MSA explained the objective of navigational work in the next 5 years, which is to build public safety platform for waterborne transportation, create harmonious navigational environment and maintain orderly navigation system, thereby to contribute to the development of society, communication industry, as well as waterborne economy.
