After about forty days of redecoration, China Lighthouse Museum opened to the public revealing the charm of maritime culture. Mr. Fan Yaxiang, Vice Secretary of CPC Committee of China MSA, visited the Museum and highly appraised the redecoration work and layout of exhibits. Under the careful attention of China MSA and Tianjin MSA, the Museum was overall re-decorated, including the renewal of outside walls, decoration of subsidiary building, adjustment of the layout and some exhibits, as well as re-editing of manuscripts and pictures. Shanghai MSA and Guangdong MSA also provided some new items for display. The three-floor Museum has totally five exhibit sections, including comprehensive section, visual aids section, audible aids section, AtoN service vessel, and radio aids section. The main tones of the exhibition hall are massive blackness and enthusiastic redness, which respectively reflect the history and modernism. There are totally 62 exhibition boards and 125 items for display in the 1,000m2 exhibiting area, with each exhibition board and exhibits being lightened facing the visitors, suggesting the care and brightness given to mariners by navigational aids. The exhibition not only reflects the history of AtoN development in China, but also reveals the latest development of new technology and scientific achievements in AtoN industry. The ISA-400 Intelligent Marine Lantern independently designed by Tianjin MSA gives live demonstration, and the computers in the Museum are connected to AIS system, through which the real time information of ships at sea is displayed to the visitors on the screen. In the central area of comprehensive section on the ground floor, there is a stamps exhibition displaying 36 sets of lighthouse stamps not only issued domestically but also abroad, and 50 lighthouse pictures for visitors to view and admire. On the fourth floor of the subsidiary building, there is a ¡°Tenth Five-Year Maritime Achievements Exhibition¡±. The massiveness of history, the visual wallop of the pictures, the progress of science and technology, and the important influence of AtoN in safeguarding navigational safety, all of these will impress the visitors deeply.
