The 15th Session of the Council of the Far East Radionavigation Service (FERNS) was held in Sanya, Hainan Province of China during the period 13-17 November 2006.
The Session was attended by a total of 19 participants, including delegates from four council members, China, Japan, Korea and Russia, and observers from IALA and Norway.
Mr. Zheng Heping, Deputy Director-General of China MSA, opened the meeting and welcomed all participants.
At the meeting, each country delivered reports on the Loran-C/Chayka Program, exchanged experience on operational, technical and management matters for FERNS cooperating chain, and discussed cooperation of other radionavigation service in the Far East region.
During the meeting, China MSA also arranged a technical visit to Sanya DGPS Station and sightseeing.
At the invitation of Japan, it was agreed that the 16th session of the Council will be convened in Japan in the autumn of 2007.
Based on mutual understanding and cooperation of all delegates, the Session was closed successfully on November 17th.
