On 12th July 2007, a four-person inspection team from Qingdao Olympic Sailing Sub-committee arrived at Qingdao AtoN Division of China MSA to inspect the preparation status of aids to navigation for the test sailing competition. The inspection team checked the buoy storage yard firstly, and was satisfied that the buoys were properly painted, well constructed and tidily arrayed. Later, the team inquired some relevant information, such as the height of light, mooring system and the total weight of a buoy, etc., and checked the sinkers and lanterns. Finally Qingdao AtoN Division introduced the layout of buoys for test competition, the preparation status, the procedure for buoy installation, as well as the detailed work plan. The Olympic Sailing Sub-committee extended thanks to AtoN Division in the last two years, and praised their idea of service to the Olympics.
July 20th, Qingdao AtoN Division conducted an exercise on buoy installation, to make preparation for the 2007 Qingdao International Regatta and the 2008 Olympic Sailing Competition. The exercise started at 9 a.m. Secretary General of Qingdao Olympic Sailing Sub-committee, and some other officials attended the exercise. The exercise attracted a lot of local media, including Qingdao TV station, morning paper and evening paper. And the video record was widely broadcast on the major media, such as CCTV news channel and "60 minutes today" of the Qingdao TV. Local newspapers also reported this event..
During the exercise, China MSA Buoy Tender 052 and 0513 had successfully installed all 20 warning light buoys to their assigned position, which won high praise from Olympic Sailing Sub-committee, and accumulated valuable experience for the 2008 Olympic Sailing Competition.
China MSA will continue to proactively provide top-quality aids to navigation service for 2007 Qingdao International Regatta and 2008 Olympic Sailing Competition.
