Puzhao Pagoda of Penglaige, established in 1868, is located on the cliff at the northeast corner of Penglaige. At night, fuel oil was used to ignite light in the Puzhao Pagoda, which was regard as the lighthouse by the passing vessels at the time. Puzhao Pagoda, made of brick and wood, has three floors. The main body is a hexagonal tower. The top of the Pagoda, made of wood and supported by six columns, looks like a pavilion. There is a spiral staircase inside the Pagoda.
In the 1950's, Puzhao Pagoda did not function as an aid to navigation any more after the Laobeishan Lighthouse, situated to the west of the Pagoda, was put into operation. The Pagoda was restored in 1958 and becomes one of the important buildings among the architectural complex of Penglaige. The Pagoda is now a national historical relic.
