Banyangjiao Lighthouse is located on a reef, 6nm off the southwest of Caiyuan township of Shengsi county in the north of Zhoushan archipelago.
The lighthouse was established in 1904. It is constructed of concrete and stone and has no lantern. The light was covered by a small mantle. There is a fog bell on the lighthouse, which sound automatically in overcast and foggy weather. And then it was rebuilt in 1975. It is a black round stone tower of 12.4 meters high with a steel lantern of 2.5 meters in diameter on top. The lighthouse has been an unmanned one since 1996 and is equipped with a Racon.
The lighthouse interlinking Baijieshan Lighthouse southeastward is one of the important aids to navigation in Baijie channel.
