
Qilishi Lighthouse Position: 30¡ã00¡ä.0N 121¡ã45¡ä.6E Tower Height: 26 meters Light Height: 52 meters Light Characteristic: Fl W 5s Range: 18 nautical miles Qilishi Lighthouse is located on Qilishi Island which covers an area of 0.03 square kilometer and is 7 kilometers off the northeast of Zhenhao, Ningbo. The lighthouse is one of the earliest neoteric lighthouses both in China and the Far east Aisa. It was established in 1865, rebuilt in 1995 and put into operation in Junuary 1997. It is a white octagonal tower with the height of 26 meters and supports a lantern for 3 meters in diameter. An air fog is replaced with an electric fog horn. A racon was installed in 2004 and AIS base station was set up at the same site in 2005. Being a gateway mark of Ningbo port, the lighthouse is an important mark for vessels passing by Ningbo port, west entrance of Beilun port and sailing between Shanghai, Jinshan and Hangzhou gulf. It is also a key reference of Qili anchorage, Beilun port. At the beginning of 1998, the original tower was moved to the Qiliyu Islet, and became a new scenic spot.
