After three years of preparation, the National Maritime Museum of China formally opens to public on July 5, 2010. Accompanied by the Director General of Shanghai MSA, Vice Minister of Transport Xu Zuyuan and Vice Mayor of Shanghai Shen Jun visited the Museum during the exhibition opening ceremony.
Located in the Pudong District, the Museum stand by the Dishui Lake, it is close to the New Town of Lingang and Shanghai Maritime University. The Museum includes more than 10,000 items in its collections and several thousand of the artifacts are on display in the 24,000-square-meter facility. Inside the museum, the pavilion of maritime affairs laid out the historical development of China's maritime administration through material object, model, pictures, text and video, offers visitor evaluating learning and interactions in a multimedia environment.
The Museum will not only carry out the duty of item display, collection, academic research and public education; it will also foster a strong sense of mission and responsibility for the maritime community.
