AtoNs for World Expo Appear in Huangpu River
2010/2/4 Borwse Person-time:402
Eleven buoys marked with “World Expo” and “China MSA” logo appeared in Huangpu River on January 26th, 2009, constituting a special sight ranging along the Expo channel from Fengpu Bridge to Yangpu Bridge, As the first phase project of reconstruction of World Expo channel, a total of 11 newly updated buoys were installed. These buoys were split-type plastic ones, which met environmental protection standard while maintaining bright colors of the lighted buoys. The World Expo logo and a LED board reading “China MSA” were installed at the front face of the lantern stand. The buoys highlighted their artistic and ornamental value and can serve as a foil to the overall sight of Expo architecture.
In addition, the buoys were equipped with self-contained solar lanterns and remote monitor terminals, which enabled the buoys to be monitored 24 hours a day and thus ensured the normal operation of these buoys.
In an effort to ensure that any failure of buoys within the core area of World Expo will be restored within an hour, Shanghai MSA recently reinforced the inspection of AtoNs for World Expo in terms of structure, painting, performance, position and visual effects, developed emergency plans to prevent unexpected failures and ensure the readiness of staff and facilities, and organized staff training on regular check, remote monitoring and control and technical skills.
