Recently, Baisuyan Lighthouse located in Bailong Port, Beihai City of Guangxi province was approved by China MSA and put into operation. The white lighthouse is topped by a red cover and a lantern, with “China MSA” characters on the lighthouse body reflecting sunshine.
Baisuyan Lighthouse is built on a reef awash 8nm from the Pearl Port near the Sino-Vietnam border. Since it was established in 1966 by China Navy and transferred to China MSA in the early 1980s, the Lighthouse served as an aid to navigation for ships sailing in and out of Fangchenggang Port, the Pearl Port and Dongxing Port and those from Vietnam. Moreover, the Lighthouse is of significant strategic value, because numerous relief materials are sent to Vietnam through this route, so are the rubber and agricultural products from Vietnam. But the lighthouse had been destroyed in history.
In 2009, Chin MSA rebuilt Baiyansu Lighthouse. The reconstruction encountered lots of difficulties, like the shortage of fresh water and power, and typhoons and storms, but the construction team still managed to complete the project by the end of 2009.
The newly built reinforced concrete lighthouse is 22.3 miters high with a luminous range of 18nm. The establishment of Baiyansu Lighthouse provides guarantee for navigational safety of those ships calling at ports in Guangxi province and benefits a lot to the regional economy.
